There are a number of different types of rum:
White rum
is clear and is used predominantly in mixing cocktails. It usually contains 40% alcohol by volume and is aged in steel barrels.
Gold rum
is aged in wood barrels which gives it it’s distinctive colour which ranges from brown to gold. It also has more flavour than white rum. This kind of rum can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks and works well in baking.
Dark rum
is usually aged in oak barrels and features a more flavourful taste. A great option for drinking neat or on the rocks.
Black rum
is also aged in wood barrels and flavoured with molasses.
Spiced rum
features spices and dried fruit which creates unique flavour profiles.
