Canadians can add liquor to the list of items hit by inflation. On April 1st, a federal government tax was implemented on alcohol. Initially slated to be a 6.3%, the 2023 federal budget has proposed a temporary cap of 2% on alcohol excise duties. This cap will stay in place for one year, pending budget approval.
While this increase is less than expected, eagle-eyed consumers will have noticed their alcohol prices steadily increasing since the festive season. If you want to beat inflation, the best way to buy your alcohol is with the Booze Bus.
The Booze Bus offers free bus tours to our warehouse just across the US border so Ontario residents can save up to 40% on LCBO prices. Each Ontario resident is allowed to import up to 45 litres of alcohol across the border. Even after paying import duties and taxes, Booze Bus patrons can look forward to saving an average of $1,125!
