Spiced Rum Cider
- 4 lt apple juice or apple cider
- 1 large orange, cut into 1/4” slices
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 4 star anise
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- 1 tablespoon whole allspice
- 1” ginger root, sliced
- 1 1/2 cups rum
Place apple juice, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, whole cloves, whole allspice and ginger root in a large pot over medium heat.
Gently simmer for 2 hours. Remove from the heat and take out fruit and spices. Add rum to the apple cider mixture.
Garnish with orange slices, apple slices or spices. Serve nice and hot.
Spiked Apple Cider

- 1 apple
- 2 teaspoons whole cloves
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 2 quarts apple cider
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- Pinch grated nutmeg
- 1 cup rum
- Cinnamon sticks, garnish
Wash the apple and press the cloves in all around the apple. Over a medium heat, bring the rest of the ingredients (except rum) to boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the rum. Fish out the apple with a slotted spoon. Serve hot, garnished with a cinnamon stick.
