Spring is finally here, and that means you’re probably itching to break out the cocktail shaker and whip up some delicious drinks for yourself and your friends. But after months of making the same old winter cocktails, it’s time to freshen up your repertoire. Here are a few spring-themed recipes to help you get started.
The Strawberry Smash
- 4 large strawberries
- 1.5 ounces of gin or vodka
- 3/4 ounce simple syrup
- 3/4 ounce lime juice
Strawberries are in season during the springtime, so why not take advantage?
Start by muddling the strawberries in a shaker before adding gin (or vodka), simple syrup and lime juice. Shake all the ingredients together over ice before straining into an ice-filled glass and garnishing with a strawberry slice or sprig of thyme. You can also add a splash of sparkling water or club soda if you want to make it extra fizzy!
The Elderflower Collins
- 2 ounces of gin
- 1 ounce elderflower liqueur such as St-Germain
- 3/4 ounce lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon simple syrup
This drink has been popular for several years now, but it never fails to impress guests at parties.
To make this classic cocktail, simply fill an ice-filled shaker with gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake everything together before straining into an ice-filled glass – preferably something tall like a Collins glass – top off with club soda or sparkling water if desired, then garnish with lemon slices or edible flowers for added flair!
Simple Syrup Recipe
- 1 cup granulate sugar
- 1 cup water
In a small pot, heat the sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool. Pour the syrup into a clean, airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 1 month.
